THE GLASS HOUSE RESTAURANT
The Glass House Logo
The Glass House Restaurant, Ambleside lies at the centre of this most beautiful corner of England and at its culinary heart. We use the freshest local produce from the Lakeland fells and farms, and fuse classic British dishes with European menus. The restaurant occupies a cleverly restored, Grade II listed building dating from the 15th Century that operated as a fulling mill (making cloth fuller) and saw mill. When the mill was refurbished in 1995, the working weir, millrace, wheel and a variety of machinery were carefully retained and an impressive oak framework was introduced to provide a series of imaginative mezzanine floors. An impressive glass frontage floods the restaurant with light. Here diners can unwind and watch the fascinating interplay of the light on the architecture and artefacts.
