Step in to discover a traditional pub of unique character, revered for its eclectic range of real ales and its quality pub food, which are served, as they should be, with a generous measure of famous British hospitality. The Green Dragon's historical documents date to 1746 when it was known as the Malt House. It was renamed The Green Dragon in 1765 but we think the building dates to the middle of the 17th Century. It is said the pub is haunted by the ghost of a young Danish soldier in the service of William III who was executed after killing a comrade in a duel in 1689.The Green Dragon is one of many rare gems in the Nicholson's collection of great British pubs, reputed for their distinctive buildings, intriguing history and vibrant atmosphere.
